Calling all BIPOC writers, storytellers, griots, and souls that just need to get their story out there! We want to invite you to submit to a very special project. We want to talk about black women’s journeys to peace, stability, and the power of knowing we will have a roof over our head. Homeostasis.
Do you want to be involved in a project that will make a difference for homeless and unhoused in our community and beyond, get your story out there, and possibly bring yourself a profit? Well, if you are a BIPOC Woman with a pivotal life story that has everything to do with your experience of creating a home (homeostasis/balance) and you are happy to tell it, you are in the right place.
We're looking for storytellers, comedians, or people who just aren't afraid to be super honest about their trials, tribulations, and triumphs when it comes to creating a home for themselves.
No story is too insignificant or too traumatic for us to include. The ultimate goal is to unite in community and help others who are struggling with finding stability, comfort, and safety in their living situation. There is nothing like shared experiences to inspire and motivate others to keep moving forward and make room for their blessings and breakthroughs.
The requirements...
1. Honesty - please make sure all of your details are factual and can be verified. Creative license is ok but no logistical falsehoods, please.
2. Authenticity - the more real we are the more we help other people release their shame and secrecy, so don't worry about "looking good" or coming off as an expert. We just want real stories, told unapologetically. Even if it's about things you regret.
3. Efficiency - we want to keep each story below 2500 words or less, so do your best to be succinct and only include details that move the story along. Back story is ok but beware of tangential information that distracts from the goal of the story.
4. Ownership, how did you resolve, overcome, or take back your power?
5. Funny, sad, life-changing, romantic, spiritual we want it all.
6. Please edit to the best of your abilities.
7. Make sure your story has a beginning, middle, and end.
8. If you are not a BIPOC Woman, please only submit if you have a story about a BIPOC Woman and her experience with housing, home-buying, homelessness, creating equilibrium in her home life. etc. (Please make sure you have permission to tell the story.)
The deadline to complete this application is Tuesday August 1st, 2023
If you have any questions please include them in the 'additional notes' section of this form.
