Urban Waters Workplan Priorities Survey

The goal of the Urban Waters Federal Partnership (UWFP) is to restore and reconnect
urban communities to waterways by improving coordination among federal agencies and communities (https://www.epa.gov/urbanwaterspartners). The UWFP at the Delaware River location encompasses four major urban areas: Philadelphia, PA; Chester, PA; Wilmington, DE; and Camden, NJ.

The Delaware River location Federal Leads workgroup is creating a draft workplan for this Urban Waters location and is seeking input on priorities from stakeholders in the Delaware River watershed who live and/or work in Philadelphia, Chester, Camden, and Wilmington.

Please provide your feedback on what additional priorities you think this Urban Waters location should focus on in the next 1-2 years (short-term priorities) and in the next 3+ years (long-term priorities) by Friday, April 9th! Please note that selections for both questions in this survey include the same list of options.

What top 3-5 initiatives would you like to see this Urban Waters location take on over the next 1-2 years? *

Hold virtual meeting with community members and federal agencies for tech-transfer on strategies for community projects

Support the Urban Bird Treaty Program (expansion to Wilmington, Camden and Chester based on work in Philadelphia)

Hold an environmental youth summit for students and educators

Hold an annual all partners meeting for the Urban Waters Delaware River location

Hold workshop that reviews how to create a community-led grant project

Hold training to review grant programs (review available grants, resources, application process, capacity building, grant management)

Create a mini-grant program for restoration and community work for community organizations

Create and share products for outreach on Brownfields revitalization efforts

Connecting disadvantages neighborhoods to trails and waterfronts

Create more coordinated efforts across all four of the Urban Waters cities

More thoughtful engagement with urban communities (more equity-focused), outreach and materials that reflects communities, attending community/city meetings

Build capacity in existing organizations and identify funding sources to implement projects

Create signature Urban Waters location programs (e.g., educational programming, stormwater programs, citizen science)

Help facilitate the work of the Aquatic Research and Restoration Center

Increase federal agency engagement by providing data that supports the health of the watershed to NGOs
