Before you apply for a FWS position, be sure you understand this unique student learning program
Limits to jobs: Work-Study funds are granted so students gain occupational training aligned with educational goals, and as such they must be closely supervised! FWS funds are allocated primarily for the benefit of students, not the college. By statute 34 CFR 675.20(c)(2)(ii): Federal Work-Study positions may not be used to replace/displace another employee. In completing this form, you hereby affirm that you are not replacing a state position with a student FWS employee, even on a temporary basis.
Limited funds: We have more eligible students than funds available. While we will endeavor to fill all requests, these positions are filled on a first-completed, first-served basis (first-completed means everything including a passing background check for the selected student has been finished). You should apply quickly and begin the interviewing process immediately upon notification of available students. While we would love to fill every position, the funding is extremely limited.
Please refer to the Work-Study Handbook for full employment conditions, rules, and regulations.
