Emergency and Disaster Planning for Family Child Care Programs

How ready are you if an emergency or disaster happens? Do you have a plan in place to help children stay safe and secure during an emergency? During this training, participants will gain a better understanding about different types of emergencies/disasters and how to plan for each.  Participants will gain knowledge of what to include in your program disaster kit and how to create an effective emergency plan.  Other topics discussed include the different steps involved when an emergency occurs and how to help children and adults cope after an emergency happens.
 

Mindfulness Moments for Programs

Mindfulness happens when we simply pay attention to experiences and emotions.  Techniques to calm the mind and body — can reduce the negative effects of stress, increase ability to stay engaged and learn and  to avoid behavior problems.
Learn about how mindfulness can help you and the children in care.  Come learn the benefits and investigate ways to bring mindfulness to your program daily.

 
Putting Developmentally Appropriate Practice Into Play

This training outlines developmentally appropriate practice in the classroom for preschool age children.  Explaining active supervision and transitions to engage children to prevent challenging behaviors.  Teachers learn classroom management techniques combined with focusing on children’s emotional state using baby dolls to engage children throughout the preschool day.
