Meet My Method: A MIRA Trainee Network Event
The McMaster Institute for Research on Aging (MIRA) and the MIRA Trainee Network will host “Meet My Method” an opportunity to come together, collaborate, and learn more about how our colleagues do research on aging.
 
Trainees, faculty and the aging research community are invited to register to attend this two hour networking and knowledge translation event, featuring poster displays and short talks that showcase research methods in aging from across disciplines, as well as keynote and plenary speakers with expertise in interdisciplinary research.

Trainees are invited to register a virtual poster, communicating their research methods in aging, with the goal of inspiring collaboration and interdisciplinary connections with faculty members and fellow trainees.

KEYNOTE:
Dr. Khaled Hassanein, Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Research, DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University and Director of the McMaster Digital Transformation Research Centre (MDTRC)
Dr. Hassanein, as director of an interdisciplinary research centre, will discuss reasons why researchers and trainees would want to partake in interdisciplinary research projects. He will discuss research, career and other benefits of interdisciplinary work.
 
PLENARY:
Dr. Janie Wilson, Professor, Department of Surgery and School of Biomedical Engineering, McMaster University
Dr. Wilson oversees interdisciplinary projects that explore the variability in healthy movement mechanics, specifically during walking and running, and how factors such as aging, sex and obesity can influence gait mechanics. Dr. Wilson will discuss how to successfully lead and execute interdisciplinary research projects.
