RNIB are a charity that provides support for blind and partially sighted people across the UK. In a world catered for the sighted, it is easy to take for granted how lucky we are to be able to navigate the everyday with the tools and access that sight affords us. Blind people face challenges and barriers at every turn, but with the help of RNIB many of these obstacles can be dissolved.
This calendar includes brief descriptions of each image, intended to enrich its value for those who cannot visually apprehend the beauty of each picture. As sighted people, we may forget that beauty is not an exclusively visual feature. Beauty is in the wind, in the trees, in the air and - crucially - in the words that we weave to capture the unique feel of a visual scene. Including image descriptions, especially with online platforms, is an easy way to make the visual world that little bit more accessible.
