Religious Education Registration Form 2023-24
Thank you for registering your child(ren) so we can organize and plan for Fall! We look forward to providing an engaging and effective program in support of our mission.

The mission of the Children and Youth Religious Education (CYRE) program at UUCM is to inspire families with wonder, connection and courageous love through the development of open minds, loving hearts, and helping hands.

Within this form, there is a different section for each child so you do not have to repeat filling in your personal information, but please remember to hit submit after finishing. You will receive a copy of your response after submitting, but please know you can make edits if something changes before Fall.

Religious education at UUCM is a spiritual co-op; it takes everyone involved to make for a great program. We need at least 24 Teachers and Helpers each semester (48 for the year) in order to offer a safe and high-quality program. Teaching or Helping requires being in a classroom approximately 8 Sundays per semester (5 months), which is the equivalent to two Sundays a month, or whatever fits your schedule best. All that is required is to have fun!

Curriculum, games and materials are provided and lessons are designed so you can easily lead with little to no prep. You will find that the Soul Matters curriculum mirrors our themes being discussed in Worship. Keep in mind, you can always watch worship recordings afterwards so you never miss a beat. Coming of Age is a particularly rewarding class to teach as you will help youth in their journey to discover what their faith statement is. No matter the curriculum, teaching offers a great opportunity to meet your child's friends and join the UUCM community. It's very rewarding!

Our Safe Church Policy requires teachers to be a member or friend of UUCM for at least six months before being in a classroom. If you are interested in teaching, but are new - please consider the Spring semester or email Karen with questions.

Please select any opportunities that might be the best fit for you: (please select all that apply as we may need to shuffle things around a bit depending on numbers).

Required
This question applies to families with youth heading into grades 6-9:

OWL (Our Whole Lives) requires regular attendance in order to cover all of the material well. Would you prefer doing OWL Sunday mornings during the RE hour, or for several hours on a Saturday or Sunday over the span of a few weekends?
Clear selection
If you selected being Teacher or Helper, please share what age group(s) you prefer to work with, or if you would like to be placed in your child's classroom or not. Classrooms include grades: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12.

If you are certified in OWL (Our Whole Lives), please state what age group you are certified to teach.

UUCM will pay for OWL training for those of you who would like to attend training in Minneapolis this coming August and November. Please indicate if you are interested in receiving this training here and Karen will follow up with details.
