PLEASE NOTE: CURRENT ATHENIAN STUDENTS DO NOT NEED TO SUBMIT THIS FORM (we can collect this directly from Athenian Instructors)
The Counselor in Training Program (CIT) is a 2-week camp program where teenagers will learn the ins and outs of being a camp counselor through the mentorship of the CIT director and counselor. Students will work with younger campers (ages 5 - 11) every day and will serve as a leader, mentor, and role model for all. CIT's will have the opportunity, with guidance, to plan and run small activities for the campers as well. Participants will need to work in a group of their peers ranging from 13 - 16 years old in a mature and responsible manner. They will also need to take direction and constructive feedback from the CIT Director and other adults/counselors in an open manner. CIT participants are expected to be respectful and helpful with the younger campers in the morning and will have the afternoon to decompress, reflect, and be campers themselves. Given the responsibilities and camp setting, there is a strict behavior policy in place, and interested participants need to be prepared to be a positive role model for all around them. No phones will be allowed around campers, and bad language will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
We are asking for an adult recommendation for each CIT to partake in the program. The adult could be a teacher, mentor, coach, or employer who will vouch for the CIT's responsibility, kindness, and maturity to partake in this program. Please fill out the form below for the student you are speaking for.
