About CAAT- Community Alliance for Accessible Treatment:

CAAT - Community Alliance for Accessible Treatment (CAAT) is an organization with the objectives to advance education and promote the health and well-being of communities living with and affected by HIV/AIDS in Canada, with a focus on racialized, newcomer and other communities facing marginalization based on their social locations. We are committed to values of anti-oppression, greater & meaningful involvement of people with HIV/AIDS (GIPA/MIPA), equity and social justice.

CAAT is built on the history and legacy of the Committee for Accessible AIDS Treatment, a coalition of more than 30 Ontario based organizations from the legal, health, settlement and HIV sectors and individuals living with/affected by HIV/AIDS. CAAT was formed in 2000 in response to the needs and challenges faced by racialized newcomer communities in accessing treatment and support. Since inception CAAT has advanced the health, well-being and meaningful engagement of racialized and newcomer communities living with/affected by HIV through education, research, service coordination, program development and advancing evidenced based policy changes.  Since 2013, CAAT has been designated by the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care as a provincial resource on HIV and Immigration Issues.

In 2022, after an extensive community engaged consultation and planning process, CAAT decided to register as an independent incorporated non-profit organization to best advance our objectives. With input from our membership and support from the Ontario Organizational Development Program (OODP) and Osler Law Firm, CAAT is now completing our incorporation process. We are now inviting interested individuals and community partners to join our membership to work together to advance our core objectives to improve the health and well-being of our communities.
