Debra Disman "Unfolding Possibilities" - Call for Community Participation!
Dear extended community -

We invite you to be part of a new artist book project by artist Debra Disman, which will become an artistic record of our greater community's experiences during and coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Unfolding Possibilities" will be a singular artist book created by the artist Debra Disman, commissioned by 18th Street Arts Center. It will utilize the flower fold structure taught in Debra Disman’s May 15, 2021 “Bookmaking with Self Compassion” workshop, part of the WE RISE LA partnership with 18th Street Arts Center focused on the themes of wellbeing in response to the pandemic. Words generated by workshop participants and community members expressing their experience of being in and moving through the pandemic will be stitched into it, creating a unique document of our present moment.

A short video will be made about the book and project as a whole: the making of the book, the workshop, the mission of We Rise, and 18th Street Arts Center and its Recovery Justice initiative. This film will be posted online and promoted through 18SAC channels with possible showings in real space/real time.

Please take a few moments to add your thoughts below, and thank you so much for contributing to this project! You can learn more about the artist at https://18thstreet.org/artists/debra-disman/.
