2021-2022 Make a Difference Award - Nomination Form

This award recognizes a member of the Ritenour educational community for their efforts in supporting the diverse needs of students academically, socially, and emotionally in a variety of learning settings. DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS IS TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 23rd, 2021.

Once, as a woman was walking along the seashore, she saw a man up ahead, repeatedly stooping to pick something up and toss it into the sea. When she caught up with him, curiosity got the best of her.
She asked what he was doing.
“It’s these starfish,” he said. “I must put them back in the water or they will die.”
“But there are thousands of miles of beach and millions of starfish,” she said.
“Do you really think that what you are doing makes a difference?”
The man picked up another starfish, and as he tossed it into the ocean, he replied,
“It makes a difference to this one.”

Any staff member in the district can nominate an individual who meets the qualifications. The nomination forms will be evaluated against the criteria set forth by the Ritenour School District. The criteria for nomination include the following:

**Excellence in the support of meeting the diverse needs of all students.
**Helping to support an atmosphere of continuous learning and growth for all students.

Using the nomination guidelines, write a narrative (300 or fewer words--can be a paragraph, a bulleted list, etc.) describing the characteristics of the nominee matching the above criteria. In addition, include specific job-related strengths/skills and personal qualities (attitude, creativity, etc.) that make the candidate worthy of this honor.
