He has had a bigger impact on the practice of filmmaking and movie culture at large than any single person in the history of the medium and yet his journey to maturity can be seen as a reckoning with his own identity.

Watch and discuss key scenes from the master director’s diverse filmography, gain a deeper understanding of the filmmaking process and glean useful insights about how to tell more compelling stories in virtually every genre by looking at his singular approach to lighting, composition, camera movement, editing and directing actors in four key works that illustrate his evolution from wunderkind showman and inventor of the modern blockbuster to popular artist, now willing to examine his own experiences more nakedly.
