SewJourney In-Person Summer Camp
Event Details
Join us for a unique and enriching Sewing Summer Camp experience, set to unfold over an exciting week from July 15th to 19th, 2024, daily from 10 am to 1 pm. Designed for children with a keen interest in sewing, this camp offers a deep dive into the craft, covering everything from machine basics to personalized projects. At a comprehensive fee of $175 for the entire week, campers will embark on a journey that blends skill-building with creativity, community contribution, and personal exploration.

Monday: Sewing Machine Basics and Safety The week begins with an essential introduction to sewing machines. Campers will learn about different types of sewing machines, how to thread them, and the crucial aspects of sewing safety. This foundational knowledge is key to ensuring a safe and enjoyable sewing experience throughout the week.

Tuesday: Introduction to the Embroidery Machine On Tuesday, we'll explore the colorful world of embroidery. Participants will be introduced to embroidery machines, learning how these incredible devices can add flair and personalization to any project. Each camper will start working on a personalized project, applying new skills to create something uniquely their own.

Wednesday: Community Service Quilts Midweek, the focus shifts to giving back. Campers will collaborate on quilts destined for community service, learning the value of teamwork and the joy of using their skills for a good cause. This activity not only reinforces sewing techniques but also instills a sense of social responsibility and the importance of community.

Thursday: Student Choice Project Thursday allows campers to put their creativity front and center. Building on the skills they've acquired, participants will choose their own project to work on. This self-directed activity encourages independence, decision-making, and creative expression, allowing each child to explore their interests within the sewing craft.

Friday: Showcase and Reflection The week culminates in a showcase where campers present their projects. This celebratory event is a chance for reflection, sharing experiences, and displaying the beautiful work completed throughout the week. It's a time of pride and joy as campers and instructors alike admire the creativity and effort invested in each piece.
