Gates Grant Community Survey
The Foundation for Tacoma Students (FFTS) is excited to announce a two-year investment of $2.5 million by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) to deepen the capacity and capability of the Graduate Tacoma community-wide movement. By elevating our collective action in three key areas, this investment can fundamentally strengthen our ability to improve outcomes for all students - from cradle to college and career.
We will be using this time bound grant to drive catalytic systems improvement and change across three granting areas. The intent of this short survey is to gather community input regarding overall interest in each of the three areas, and help start determining content and investment area priorities. We will be doing much deeper community scans in each area in the coming weeks.
The grant areas are as follows:
Community Partner Capacity & Capability
Goal: Increase the capacity and capabilities of youth-serving organizations to yield more effective interventions and sustain community ownership for student success
Data Capacity & Capability
Goal: Increase the data capacity, capabilities, and alignment of organizations and institutions in Tacoma to measurably improve student outcomes.
Postsecondary Access & Completion
Goal: Increase the number of Tacoma Public School grads who earn a postsecondary degree or certificate by aligning efforts across the city that influence enrollment, persistence, and completion rates.
