Munartet Cohort - What's Your Big Idea?
Munartet Cohort Members - we want to hear your big idea for teaching in and through the arts and culture in Kodiak during this 2021 - 2022 school year. KAC welcomes your ideas for supporting arts enhanced and arts integrated classrooms and can provide technical and financial support to Munartet Cohort members.

Eligible expenses include teaching artist stipends, supplies and materials, and equipment.

Educators are encouraged to contact the Arts Council office with any questions about project scope and eligible expenses. Email education@kodiakarts.org

Some Big Idea examples:
Mr. Green is a middle school ELA teacher who wants to work with a experienced teaching artist to offer a week-long residency in slam poetry, a style of spoken word poetry composed to be performed in front of a live audience. He requests funds to pay a teaching artist to lead the work with his students through daily virtual visits, and offer him coaching in how to help students as they work. KAC will research experienced teaching artists in this field, make a connection between the teaching artist and Mr. Green, help the parties clarify expectations for the residency, and pay the teaching artist stipend. Estimated budget for prep and instruction time: $1,500.

Ms. Ruiz is an elementary school counselor who wants to support a program of art journaling with her students. She has experience with various artistic practices and feels competent and confident in leading the work. She'd like to work individually with a teaching artist for some arts coaching and needs supplies so that each participating student can journal with their own set of supplies. Estimated budget for coaching and supplies: $1,000.

Tell us your Big Idea! Please provide as much information as possible about your idea and how we can support your arts-enhanced or arts-integrated classroom work. If you have supplies requests, please list them. If you know a specific Teaching Artist you would like to work with, please name them. Otherwise please share the arts discipline (i.e. visual arts, music, theatre, etc), any specific ideas you may have as to project content, as well as logistical information (i.e date, time, length and duration of desired visit, student ages, etc), and we will work to find an eligible teaching artist, if desired, to match your project. Thank you - we'll be in touch! *
