Mr. Green is a middle school ELA teacher who wants to work with a experienced teaching artist to offer a week-long residency in slam poetry, a style of spoken word poetry composed to be performed in front of a live audience. He requests funds to pay a teaching artist to lead the work with his students through daily virtual visits, and offer him coaching in how to help students as they work. KAC will research experienced teaching artists in this field, make a connection between the teaching artist and Mr. Green, help the parties clarify expectations for the residency, and pay the teaching artist stipend. Estimated budget for prep and instruction time: $1,500.
Ms. Ruiz is an elementary school counselor who wants to support a program of art journaling with her students. She has experience with various artistic practices and feels competent and confident in leading the work. She'd like to work individually with a teaching artist for some arts coaching and needs supplies so that each participating student can journal with their own set of supplies. Estimated budget for coaching and supplies: $1,000.
