Critical Race & Ethnic Studies Scholarship

The Critical Race & Ethnic Studies Scholarship will be awarded to a student who demonstrates financial need with preference given to students engaged in coursework or majoring in Critical Race and Ethnicity Studies as the vision for this new department is realized.

Critical Race & Ethnic Studies
The department has been in construction since 1968 and was supported by President Pribbenow on June 2020, in the wake of George Floyd’s murder by the Minneapolis police department.


The desire in the creation of the CRES Department will Include

1) a major and minor in CRES with concentrations in Africana Studies; Latine/x Studies; and Asian-American Studies
 2) 5 tenure faculty total, with 3 immediate tenure-track faculty in the Fall 2021 and two more in the following years; and
3) actively center the interdisciplinary scholarship rooted in the practices, philosophies, and methods of ethnic studies.


This scholarship was created by a generous donor and in collaboration with a group of students and PASU (Pan-Afrikan Student Union) raising money to create more accessible scholarships.

WHO CAN APPLY:
-Must have completed at least one full semester at Augsburg
-Be enrolled as a full-time student in the Augsburg Day program for the academic year 2021-2022
-Meet the University's standard of conduct
-Complete this application
-Must demonstrate financial need, defined by Student Financial Services.


The 6 Scholarship Recipients will receive $2,500.00 each to their tuition.
