Foods/Fashions (Miss Toeckes) - While working safely in the kitchen students will make a variety of delicious healthy foods. Focus will be on use of equipment, cutting techniques, measuring accurately and following a written recipe. Labs may include breakfasts, soup, snacks and quick breads.
From Rags to Stitches - Introductory topics include: safety in the sewing room, sewing equipment and threading the sewing machine. Improve your sewing terminology while sewing a wheat bag and cover. Learn how to upcycle a pair of jeans into a great pillow; perfect for your room or traveling in a car.STEM ( Mr. Einhorn) - STEM is an abbreviation for four connected areas of study: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. In this class, you will have an opportunity to use your imagination and creativity to design and create various projects with commonly available materials.
Band (Mrs. McLaren) - Learn a band instrument! In this option you get to learn a band instrument, it doesn’t matter if you have never taken band before, all are welcome!
Construction (Mr. LaGrange) - Construction 8 is a continuation of the grade 7 program. Students will continue their work in working with plans and drawings, move into the use of power tools, and undertake basic woodworking projects that focus on skill development.
Learning Opportunities (Ms. Hutchison) - Are you feeling overwhelmed with school? Do you need help finishing up missed or late assignments? Perhaps you need help studying? This is just the class for you! Additionally, you will be given the opportunity to build a “toolbox for success” filled with strategies to increase your academic success and gain self-confidence in all that you do.
French ( Miss Nokes) - Bonjour! In this FULL YEAR option we will study French vocabulary, grammar, and the cultures of a variety of French-speaking countries. You will have the opportunity to listen to, speak, read and write in French.
Cosmetology (Mrs. Naesgaard) - Students will explore topics related to Cosmetology both for personal use and as a future career option. This course is intended to introduce students to and allow them to discover the skills and techniques associated to cosmetology.
Design Thinking (Mrs. Chatwood) - Try out our school laser, vinyl press! In Design Thinking, you will be able to select a project that interests you and make it come to life through your own design and creations.
Photoshop/Design (Miss Korver) - Students will use a varety of Adobe and photo editing programs to manipulate, design and create media and photographs.
