Fall 2022 3rd-year Chinese Class @ University of Puget Sound

Please complete this survey ASAP, preferably before our first day of class on August 29, and no later than Wednesday, August 31.

I took at least one UPS Chinese language course up to 2nd-year level

I took a UPS Chinese language course at the 3rd-year level (either 250, or 260)

I spoke Chinese with family members, I can read characters, and would call myself a heritage speaker

I took Chinese before I came to UPS (either in an immersion program, or in middle school, high school, or at another college, or via study abroad programs)

I earned a 4 or higher on AP Chinese Exam

For those who took Chinese 202 or 250/260 at UPS, please comment on your experience (i.e. what's your favorite part of learning and your least favorite, challenges, skills you would like to improve, or cultural topics of interest, etc.). *

I am able to focus in class and actively participate in class

I can keep up with assignments and do homework on a daily basis

I am patient and do not get frustrated too easily

I can recognize areas in my coursework that need improvement and seek help if needed

I am not afraid of making mistakes and willing to spent time to practice until I improve

I stay motivated and find creative ways to keep my interest up

I do not procrastinate, and act in a timely fashion to address any concerns

Chinese 230 emphasizes language learning with a focus on grammar use. There are going to be more reading/typing assignments expected at this level (hand writing is an option and usually not required). List some of your personal goals in this course (or some of the things/topics/skill sets you would like to learn about or acquire). *
