NEW NHC ELIGIBILITY RULES

The intent is to provide all players the choice of being eligible for their registered Association (AKL club players = Auckland) OR their origin /home Association.

A player’s ‘Association of Origin’ or home association is defined by each player but must meet one of the following criteria:
- a. first represented Association
- b. Registered association during the majority of your secondary schooling
- c. Registered association of first senior club game
- d. Registered association during the majority of your tertiary education

Once a player has chosen their Association of Origin this cannot be changed year to year except where a player has been living in an Association and been actively playing in that Association ’s club competition for a minimum of 5 consecutive years they can apply to change their Association of Origin with HNZ.

Guest Players - max number is four per team. Must have permission to play from your registered association to play for another association. An association may withhold permission for a player to become a Guest Player if :
1. The player did not make themselves available for their own association.
2. The player is unfinancial.
3. The player has been suspended.

IGPs - not eligible to play in the new NHC

AKH requires you as part of your 2021 Club registration form and this Expression of Interest Form to declare either of the following:

1. You wish to be eligible to play for AKL in the 2021 NHC, or
2. You wish to be eligible to play for a different Association and meet one of the criteria a-d above.

AKH Blacksticks selected for the Olympic Games will be required to inform us of their availability to play in the NHC no later than one week after Olympic selection.

SELECTION DATES:
AKH NHC squads will be named three weeks after the start of the Intercity Comp in the week after Easter. These squad members will be trialling in late June after a series of training sessions in April-June.

U23 training ethic and performances, RPC ethic,  as well as club performances in the first three weeks of the Intercity competition will all count towards NHC squad selection.

Depending on the number of players expressing interest to play in the NHC, AKH may select two teams of each gender to represent our Association.
