Capacity Building - GDPR for VOs

The Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector is collaborating with Dr Matteo Alessandro from Cyberspace to deliver training in Capacity Building - GDPR for Voluntary Organisations. Please find more details regarding the training below: 

Content:

1. Overview of GDPR:
Understand the basic principles and requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and why it is important for voluntary organisations to comply with it.

2. Key Terminologies:
Learn the key terminologies used in the GDPR, including personal data, data controller, data processor, and data subject.

3. Data Protection Principles:
Understand the six data protection principles of the GDPR, including lawfulness, fairness, and transparency, and how they apply to voluntary organisations.

4. Consent:
Understand the concept of consent and how to obtain it lawfully and effectively.

5. Data Processing:
Learn how to process personal data lawfully and securely, including how to handle sensitive data.

6. Data Retention:
Understand the rules around data retention, including how long you can keep personal data and when it should be deleted.

7. Data Sharing:
Understand the rules around sharing personal data with third parties, including volunteers and partners.

8. Rights of Data Subjects:
Understand the rights of data subjects under the GDPR, including the right to access, rectify, and erase their personal data.

9. Data Breaches:
Understand the concept of a data breach, including how to detect, report, and manage data breaches.

10. Practical Implementation:
Learn practical steps to implement GDPR compliance in your voluntary organisation, including creating policies and procedures, training staff and volunteers, and conducting data protection impact assessments (DPIAs).

: 5:30pm -7:30pm
Location: Online

Deadline to submit your registration is Thursday 27th March 2025 - noon.

Each voluntary organisation may apply for a maximum of 2 volunteers, nonetheless each participant is to submit their individual registration form with their personal details. This training session will have an intake of a maximum of 40 participants, hence we encourage VOs to submit their application as soon as possible to secure their spot.

GDPR NOTICE: Your contact details may be forwarded to the trainer for logistical purposes, as part of the organisation of the training. This may be a necessary step that will facilitate the dissemination of material and links specifically and solely for this training. 

RE Online Trainings - For those participants that do not wish to be recorded during online trainings, please keep your cameras and mikes off through out the session. Queries can be addressed in the chat. The recording of the meeting will be disseminated with other VOs.
