LGBTQIA+ Focus Group

We at Quench Arts are starting a LGBTQIA+ focus group for ages 11-25. The end goal is to create a cross arts programme and so, as part of the group sessions there will be the opportunity to experience tasters in different creative art forms as well as to visit age appropriate arts events of relevance to the LGBTQIA+ community, such as those profiling LGBTQIA+ artists or specifically targeted at the LGBTQIA+ community.

The focus group will also help produce an information and training offer for parents, teachers and various other adults. We want young people to be able to communicate with adults about what they should know when it comes to navigating their sexuality and gender. As we build up numbers, the group may be split into 11-17 year olds and 18-25 year olds.

We are inviting queer and trans youth as well as allies to join us in this monthly focus group. Our aim with this group is to encourage those attending to express themselves through art, connect with each other and meet like minded (and different folks) in their community.

These sessions will be led by two facilitators who specialise in drama and visual art (Sam and Lydia). There will also be guest sessions with a musician and poet (Amy and Ray).

The sessions will be 6-8pm every 2nd Thursday of the month (dates below) at the Afro Caribbean Millennium Centre (339 Dudley Rd, Winson Green, B18 4HB).

The focus group is free to access and there will be snacks!

Dates: 8th Feb, 14th Mar, 11th Apr, 9th May, 13th Jun, 11th Jul, 12th Sep, 10th Oct)
