PORTLAND PUBLIC SCHOOLS
COMMUNITY BUDGET REVIEW COMMITTEE (CBRC)
Application for a three-year term, ending June 30, 2025.
The Community Budget Review Committee (CBRC) brings the thought partnership of community, families, and students, to evaluate the resources that help prepare our students to lead a socially just world. When we braid Racial Equity and Social Justice strategies to build our organizational culture and capacity to create a strong foundation to support every student, we will reimagine Portland Public Schools to ensure every student, especially our Black and Native American students who experience the greatest barriers, realize the Vision of the Graduate Portrait.
The CBRC reviews and provides recommendations to the Board of Education on the Annual Proposed Budget. In addition to supporting the Superintendent’s Annual Budget Calendar and Proposed Budget, the CBRC provides critical advice to the Board on the allocation and expenditure of Local Option Levy funds.
Each year, the Board of Education appoints CBRC members to assist in the annual budget process. Those interested in membership may submit an application during the summer for consideration. The application process is now open for the 2022-23 school year, in preparation for the development of the 2023-24 Fiscal Year Budget, and applications in both Google Form and PDF formats are available. Applications are due by September 16, 2022 for eight vacant positions.
The CBRC is typically composed of eight to twelve volunteer members appointed by the Board to three-year terms, with student members serving one-year terms. The CBRC generally meets on a monthly basis during the course of the budget development season, October through June, and additional meetings may be scheduled as needed. Please visit the CBRC website for additional information and a Committee Overview: https://www.pps.net/Page/1677.
We are particularly interested in receiving and reviewing applications from historically underrepresented parts of our community. Portland Public Schools is committed to academic excellence and personal success for all students. Central to this commitment is racial equity and social justice.
