About:
In its effort to promote and develop ICT in the State and Nigeria at large, Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management (KSITM) in collaboration with Gachi Development foundation and National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) organizes a maiden Coding Competition/Hackathon to encourage our youth in the State to get involved with programming and improve their computational thinking in problem solving.
Objectives of the competition:
Coding is an important skill in today’s world in providing opportunities for individuals to learn and hone their skills in different programming languages. Coding competition is an engaging and exciting way of motivating our youth in creating local content solutions to our problems. There are real world problems in our daily endeavours that require automation for efficient results with the use of technology and digital transformation.
This competition is designed to unlock solutions to some of the problems on E-governance, Agriculture, Education, Health, FinTech, Commerce, Automobile sectors, etc. It will be a two-day event with an opening session and application development on Saturday the 10th of June and Sunday the 11th of June, 2023 for application presentations & awards giving ceremony to the winners.
The goal is to produce working applications/prototypes that would help the sectors, communities or organizations to work more efficiently.
Eligibility: Application is open to all professionals that can develop an APPLICATION with coding skills in any of the Python, Java, C++, PHP, JavaScript Programming language.

Guidelines:
Applicants must fill the competition application form online @ ksitm.edu.ng#ksitmhackathon
Application closes on 5th May, 2023.
Selection notification on 13-14th May, 2023.
Winners will be officially recognized and awarded prizes in the 2nd day of the competition.

PRIZES to be won:
1st position: ₦150,000+Laptop computer
2nd position: ₦100,000 + Laptop computer
3rd position: ₦50,000 + Tablet.
