ADAPT Volunteer, The Pulse Fitness Centre

The ADAPT program is a one-on-one fitness program aimed to promote individuals with a various range of disabilities to stay active, by pairing them up with volunteers to assist them with their workouts.

ADAPT Volunteers will:
Help facilitate client workouts and improve their fitness fundamentals
Assist clients with setting up and completing their workout
Strive to meet client's varied and unique needs
Help client find creative ways to adapt to potential barriers in the gym
Create a positive space and inviting environment for client to feel encouraged to live a healthy, active lifestyle

Term:

Summer 2023 with an option to extend.

Scheduled hours:
1-3 sessions of 1-2 hours a week, according to a schedule that works for both the volunteer and client
Volunteers MUST be able to commit to a minimum of one session per week for the entirety of the term
Qualifications:
Be a McMaster University student
Have a current membership to The Pulse
Obtain valid CPR-C/First Aid certification before beginning the program

The Ideal Candidate will possess:
The ability to motivate others
Enthusiasm towards the field of health and fitness
Working knowledge of gym equipment
Experience working with individuals with disabilities
A high degree of kindness, understanding, and respect
