This course, running over 3 sessions on Zoom, will explore how to place reasoning and problem-solving at the heart of the UKS2 maths curriculum. We will consider a wide range of techniques for interweaving reasoning into lessons for all children and deepening the challenge and we will discuss when each technique could be used within a sequence of lessons. A coherent approach to teaching problem-solving will also be shared. This will enable all teachers to adapt their curriculum to engage all children in rich, thought-provoking mathematics. Lots of practical ideas will be given and there will be tasks to experiment with between sessions.
