STRATEGY A: AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR THE LIFESPAN

As we think about an older society, transportation is fundamental to connected, autonomous living.

Sample Idea: Expand access to public transportation in parts of the state where there's moderate to low density population
Objective 2: What is a specific idea that could help us achieve safe transportation options for all ages?

Sample Idea: Continue ensuring accessibility and ADA compliance of pedestrian crossings via investments and audits
STRATEGY C: PUBLIC SPACES FOR ALL AGES AND SEASONS

Do our communities empower us, or disable us? The public spaces and buildings we need can be designed to do either.

STRATEGY D: SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT

Human beings are wired to connect with other people. That doesn’t change with age.

Sample Idea: Support the work of the Office of Broadband Development to ensure access to border-to-border internet.
Objective 2: What is a specific idea that could help us achieve social engagement through technology and other means?

Sample Idea: Promote classes that teach older adults how to engage socially through technology.
STRATEGY E: LONG-TERM CARE AS HOME: QUALITY OF LIFE AND CARE

For the 63,000 Minnesotans who live in licensed assisted living facilities, and just over 20,000 who live in skilled nursing facilities, long-term care communities are home.

Objective 1: What is a specific idea that could help us achieve ensure standards of care for people living with dementia?

Sample Idea: Make clinical training at care centers eligible for Medical Education and Research Costs (MERC) grants.
