TAC TAC (The Adolescent Champion Teen Advisory Council) is a diverse group of youth ages 15-22 in the Washtenaw County/Metro Detroit area who serve as an advisory council to Michigan Medicine's Adolescent Health Initiative. They offer youth perspectives on issues that affect adolescent health care. The group is designed as an adult-youth partnership with decisions made by the council and supported by adult facilitators. Members have a lot of fun while also engaging in professional development!
We are looking for anyone who has an interest in improving the experience of adolescents in health care. Topics to be addressed this coming year include: youth-friendliness of health centers, mental health, self-advocacy, sexual health, and more! This is also a great opportunity for youth to share their perspectives, create resources, gain leadership experience, and to learn more about the health care field. Remember that even if you don’t feel like you have expertise in health, you are an expert in your own experience, and WE WANT TO HEAR YOUR VOICE!
Our meetings from the upcoming year will take place once a month on Sundays from September 2021 - May 2022. There will be in-person and virtual options depending on the public health guidelines. TAC TAC members will also attend the 2022 Conference on Adolescent Health taking place in May 2022. Stipends are provided for participating.
