Band: (This is an all year course)
Cost $60 (for the year)
In band class students learn about music and play instruments. Students will continue to learn the ins and outs of their chosen instrument and learn many new skills and techniques. Students will have the opportunity to go to Band Camp in February, compete at the Fort Saskatchewan Music Festival in March, perform in the winter & year-end concert and at other venues, as well go on music-based field trips. Band is a great opportunity to learn about music and have a lot of fun.

Business
No Fee
The business option is a hands-on, project based option that will provide students with the opportunity to plan and run a business venture. Students will work together to develop a business plan, learn marketing strategies, and run a business during the term.

Construction
Cost $30
Construction is a hands-on, project based course where students will spend most of their time in the construction shop. A mandatory safety component must be successfully completed before students are allowed to participate in the construction lab. As safety is paramount, students must work safely and follow teacher instructions at all times. Students in grade 7, 8, 9 will use appropriate machinery and power tools in the shop.

Cosmetology Student must enroll in both Terms 1 & 2*
Cost $ 50
Students develop increased appreciation for the significance of personal grooming in various life situations, as well as the knowledge and skills required to maintain a personal health and safety plan.

Film Studies
Cost $10
Film studies provide a general introduction to the art and history of the cinema with focus on particular genres and styles found in the past and present. Lectures, film labs, projects, and discussions will focus on the process of filmmaking as an art form; studies of great directors and film artists; studies of selected film genres; studies of film techniques and styles; the creation and critique of short films. The self-development and socialization of the student are extended by developing an appreciation for the cinema as a traditional art form.

Fit for Life - Individual Fitness
Cost $60
In this course students will have the opportunity to learn about aspects of individual fitness. Students will explore different activities such as fitness testing, cardiovascular fitness, strength training and more. Students will have the opportunity to improve their level of fitness while learning activities that they can carry with them later on in life.

Foods
Cost $40
We know that “You are what you eat!” Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating assists you to make wise food choices. Success in preparing food depends on understanding recipes and equipment, care in handling food, as well as, safe and efficient work habits. In this intro to foods you will learn these key concepts, gain knowledge to enhance your daily living skills, and enlighten your potential career opportunities, and most importantly, have fun.

Makerspace
Cost $20
The makerspace option focuses on the innovative and creative uses of technology. Students will learn computer programming (hour of code), robotics (mBots), video game creation (scratch animation/Kodu game lab) and 3D printing. Students will solve design-based challenges, using technology by designing, prototyping, and creating a finished product.

Musical Theatre: *Student must enroll in both Terms 1 & 2*
Cost $15
In this course students will have the opportunity to sing, dance, act and learn about elements of drama. Students in this class will work on a musical production as part of the Dinner theatre fundraiser. If you are interested in having fun singing and performing with others this is the class for you. No previous singing, dance or acting experience are needed.

Science Enrichment
Cost $10
If you love being outside and caring for the environment, this option is for you! In this class you will participate in activities in the outdoor classroom such as; gardening, planting trees, learning about recycling, water catchment, alternative energy options, and so much more.

Sports Leadership: Backyard Games
Cost $ 10
This is an opportunity to learn about a variety of games that are fun for everyone to play. This course will focus on rules and participation in games typically played in your backyard, at a lake, or any space with a group of friends. A portion of the course will also be spent on learning about game development. Students will develop their own backyard game to be played by their peers.

Sports Leadership – Volleyball
Cost $10
This is a course aimed at the volleyball player wishing to improve his/her skills. The objective of the course is to provide students with a competitive edge during team the volleyball season. The course will focus on: Fitness specifically related to volleyball, Footwork and positioning, as well as Basic and Advanced Volleyball Skills.
