In an effort to continue our partnership with the faith community and our work on educating congregations on COVID-19, the GEORGIA CEAL project invites you to participate in a Lay Health Ministry training. This training will equip you to enhance or establish a sustainable health ministry program at your place of worship. Lay Health Ministers will be trained to:
1) conduct health information and education sessions for their faith community on a variety of topics, including COVID-19
2) conduct health needs of congregational members
3) establish collaboration with health and human service agencies, and
4) sustain and institutionalized health ministry as a specialized component of your church’s organization.
We are seeking 3-5 individuals from at least 10 faith communities in the metropolitan Atlanta area. Applicants must be willing to attend all training sessions.
Training dates are 7 Tuesdays in January, February, and March 2023. January 31, in-person from 6:30-9:00 PM. February 7, 14, 21, 28 and March 7, 14 in-person or Zoom from 6:30-9:00 PM at an address as of yet to be decided in Metro Atlanta.
The course is offered to participants at no cost and participants will receive a certificate at the completion of the course.
The Graduation date is Sunday March 19, 3:30 p.m. and will be an in-person event.
