2022 NSF COSMOS-NewLAW Research Experiences and Mentoring and Teaching (RET/REM) Recommendation Form
Thank you for being a recommender for an applicant to the 2022 NSF COSMOS-NewLAW Research Experiences and Mentoring and Teaching (RET/REM) summer program. This is an ongoing professional development opportunity for middle and high school STEM teachers in New York City. Teachers will be involved in wireless network research alongside STEM researchers at New York University and Columbia University.

DATES         July 5 - July 22
LOCATION         NYU Tandon School of Engineering
SCHEDULE         9am - 5pm
STIPEND AMOUNT $4,000 (total for 3 weeks of summer work plus school year classroom activities)
ADDITIONAL                Teachers will receive a COSMOS Education Toolkit and CTLE credit

ABOUT THE RESEARCH:
COSMOS (“Cloud Enhanced Open Software Defined Mobile Wireless Testbed for City-Scale Deployment”) is a project funded by the National Science Foundation with the aim to develop, deploy, and operate an advanced wireless research testbed in New York City, specifically in West Harlem. The COSMOS team consists of Rutgers, Columbia, NYU, NYC, Silicon Harlem, City College of New York (CCNY), University of Arizona, and IBM. Teachers will collaborate with researchers working on both the COSMOS project and a National Science Foundation EFRI NewLAW project that focuses on wireless communication.
