2023-2024 Funding Request Form
In an effort to better track sponsored programs and be more fiscally responsible with funds, please complete this program funding requests prior to the deadlines listed below. Anything sooner, needs to be communicated to ASP Professional Staff. Programs need to fall within the 7-Point Programming Model (found below) or mission statement. If you have questions or concerns, please communicate with an ASP Professional Staff Member.

Funding Deadlines:
September 15th, 2023 for opportunities occurring between October 1– October 21, 2023

October 7, 2023 for opportunities occurring between October 22– December 15, 2023

December 3, 2023 for opportunities occurring between December 16 – February 28, 2024

February 3 2024 for opportunities occurring between March 1 – May 15, 2024

May 5, 2024 for opportunities occurring between May 16 – June 30, 2024

June 17, 2024 for opportunities occurring between July 1 – September 7, 2024

Programming Model:
Capital Building: These are programs that promote resources, organizations, and internal/external stakeholders available to all Black Scholars (transfers, commuters, etc.).
o SLO: By attending a Capital Building program, Black Scholars will be able to engage in opportunities to become part of a community group or organization on campus.
o Possible Topics: Networking, mentorship initiatives, campus offices/resources, etc.

Professional Development: These are programs that promote resources, organizations and internal/external stakeholders focused on the professional development to Black Scholars.
o SLO: By attending a Professional Development program, Black Scholars will be able to acquire knowledge and skills that prepare them for the workforce.
o Possible Topics: Resume writing, professional attire, interview skills, etc.

My Black Matters: These are programs that encourage the exploration of Black Scholars’ identities (including but not limited to race/ethnicity, sexuality, gender, etc) and how their Black bodies engages in the world today.
o SLO: By attending a MBM program, Black Scholars will be able to employ critical thinking skills to challenge societal norms within and outside of the Black community.
o Possible Topics: BLM, LGBTQ+/Blaq, Anti-Blackness, The Culture, Spectrum of Blackness, etc.

Blackademically Speaking: These are programs that offer resources, strategies, and techniques to support Black scholars as they navigate their academic endeavors.
o SLO: By attending a Blackademically Speaking program, Black Scholars will be able to implement academic techniques and resources to support their continued navigation through academic achievement and guide them to graduate from UCR.
o Possible Topics: Research opportunities, study skills, engaging with faculty and staff, time management, etc.

Personal Wellness: These are programs that encourage our Black Scholars to examine the influence of their spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional health.
o SLO: By attending a Personal Wellness program, our Black Scholars will be able to articulate how their behaviors contribute to their wellness and development.
o Possible Topics: Therapy, healing spaces, emotional intelligence, personal fitness, financial literacy.

Responsible Citizenship These are programs that encourage development service learning, ethical, and moral standards for our Black Scholars.
o SLO: By attending a Responsible Citizenship program, our Black Scholars will be able to engage in service learning opportunities that contribute to the on and off campus communities.
o Possible Topics: Voting, MLK Day of Service, volunteer abroad, etc.

Leading While Black: These are programs that encourage Black Scholars to examine their leadership development, learn how to affect change, and develop skills to incorporate into their leadership practice.
o SLO: By attending a LWB, our Black Scholars will be able to identify leadership characteristics and articulate their own leadership perspectives.
o Possible Topics: StrengthsQuest, Leadership Retreat, Inspiring R’ Leaders conference, Values in Action (VIA) assessment.
