COAD IN PERSON TRAINING DAY -     April 20, 2023
Join us on April 20, 2023 for multiple training opportunities with COAD in person at CrossWalk Community Church thank you CrossWalk!). The afternoon will include a Meet Your Neighbor interactive class over lunch hosted by COAD, followed by a COAD & ICS orientation and tabletop activation exercise, and finishing off the day with the COAD general meeting. Below you will find a description of each training segment, please select and register for the training(s) you will be attending.   We need to know in advance what sessions you will be attending so we can plan accordingly.

LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED FROM 11:30AM TO 1:30PM

All sessions are open to all COAD members agencies and partners.

Special incentive for April 20!  For each segment attended on April 20 (MYN class, COAD & ICS Orientation, Tabletop Activation Exercise, COAD General Meeting to introduce Subcommittee  Leadership training), individuals will receive a ticket for an opportunity drawing for TWO Three-Day General Admission passes for BottleRock 2023.  Individuals who attend all four training segments, will receive 4 tickets for the drawing, 3 events, 3 tickets, etc.  Opportunity tickets will be handed out at the end of each segment on April 20. The final drawing will occur at the end of the day at 4:55PM, but you won't need to be present at that time to win.

Meet Your Neighbor (MYN) - 
MYN is COAD's neighborhood resilience initiative working to bring neighbors together to plan for emergencies. This program promotes self-reliance and encourages neighborhoods to decide what works best for them. This training will provide an interactive workshop on the MYN program with our consultant, Skip Jirrels.  We also will share the COAD 2023 outreach campaign. 

This segment is available to all those interested in preparedness and resiliency. 

Lunch will be provided during this segment from 11:30AM to 1:30PM.

TIME: 11:30AM to 12:45PM

COAD & ICS Orientation - 
This training segment will provide an overview of COAD's structure & operations and how COAD uses Incident Command Systems (ICS) during an emergency. We will also be introducing the new COAD Subcommittee Operating Guide. This foundational session for subcommittee leadership will also be offered online in April or May.

This foundational training is for existing and potential subcommittee leaders, and all staff active in an emergency response.

TIME: 1PM to 2PM (lunch will be available until 1:30PM with snacks available the remainder of the afternoon)

Tabletop Activation Exercise - 
This exercise is a continuation of the COAD & ICS Orientation. The Subcommittee tabletop activation exercise will simulate an emergency response using an earthquake scenario.  Using the scenario, participants will identify incident objectives, identify potential needs, and subcommittees to activate and their potential actions.

This training is for existing and potential subcommittee leaders, and all staff active in an emergency response.

TIME: 2:10PM to 3:30PM

COAD APRIL General Meeting - 
The end of the day will be the COAD General Meeting which will include an overview of the strategic planning refresh conducted by COAD's Board of Directors in early 2023. 

The main training topics will include an overview of the Subcommittee Leader training modules and the Subcommittee Leader Guide with an hour devoted to presenting a foundational model for Leadership and collaborative leadership principles.    

All COAD member agencies are encouraged to attend this segment to learn more about the leadership development training series that will be open to all COAD agency and partner staff.
