Dear Parent(s) and/or Guardian(s),

Your child has the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument at Lincoln Roosevelt Elementary this year! The goal of the Roxbury Instrumental Music Program is to team with parents, teachers, and the school to develop responsible, respectful, confident, and creative students. The high standards of excellence facilitate musical growth both individually on an instrument and in ensembles.

Throughout April and May, students had several experiences to learn about the instruments offered and hear each one played in a variety of settings.  Our goal was to help establish their personal interests and preferences, as well as gain a better understanding of how the Roxbury Instrumental Music Program works.

Instruments open to new students entering 5th grade include: flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, percussion (only available as a second choice instrument), and violin.  

Instruments open to new students entering 6th grade include: flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, percussion (only available as a second choice instrument), violin, viola, cello, and bass.

On the form below, please indicate your child's intention to participate in band or orchestra next year, noting their first choice and second choice instruments. While we will strive to let each student participate on their first choice instrument, we may ask students to pursue their second choice instrument to balance instrumentation and manage space constraints.

Once we receive your child's sign up and instrument preferences, we will confirm their instrument with you ASAP.  At that time, you can begin the rental process (if applicable).  Please visit our LR Band Website to learn a bit more about rental pricing through the Music Den, if interested.

Please submit this form by Tuesday, September 21st so we can finalize schedules and get started ASAP.
