Connect with a mentor to brainstorm your research ideas or refine and structure the ideas you already have for a future research presentation. The Brown Bag sessions help students to prepare for research presentations including Duquesne's Undergraduate Research Symposium and the Graduate Research Symposium

The Brown Bags are sponsored by the Center for Migration, Displacement and Community Studies. Center-affiliated faculty who serve as mentors during Brown Bag sessions come from a range of fields within Duquesne University. All our professors specifically are available to support research related to community studies, migration, immigration, human flows, displacement, and social justice among other domains.

Once we receive your form, except us to reach out to you soon with Brown Bag dates.

A Brown Bag is an informal research seminar that is typically held 1-2 times per semester. The term "Brown Bag" refers to the seminar being held at lunchtime (from noon - 1pm), thus attendees can bring their lunch and eat during the seminar. Brown Bags provide faculty and students an opportunity to present in an interactive manner about research at any stage and recieve feedback. Often times, Brown Bags are used as an opportunity to practice talks to be delivered externally or elsewhere at Duquesne or to share recent talks given elsewhere for the benefit of those who were not able to attend.
