Who do you live with? Tell me about your family, pets, etc. I live with my husband and 4 kids. I have two daughters, one 18 and one 16, two sons, one is 15 and the other is 11. I also live with my dog, Dexter. He's pretty cute and has a big face!

Does your living situation impact your school work? Do you travel between more than one home? Do you have reliable access to technology? When I was growing up I lived half the time with my mom and half the time with my dad.
What responsibilities do you have outside of school? (sports, clubs, chores, church, work, family) I take care of my family and am going to night school at Cal State, Long Beach. I'm taking physics courses so that someday I can teach high school physics if they need me to.

Should I know anything in particular about you physically? (allergies, health conditions, or concerns) I don't have any food allergies. I had thyroid cancer and had my thyroid removed about 5 years ago. You might notice a scar along my neck from where they did surgery. I also had a little skin cancer on my head and there is a scar from that too! You can see the scar on my forehead and a little of the scar on my neck in the photo of Mr. Kay and I near Sedona, AZ last year.

Have you started thinking about a career or college? What are you considering? I have a bachelor's degree in anthropology. That is the study of human beings, past and present. I became an archaeologist and did that for 8 years before going back to Cal State, Long Beach to become a science teacher. I now have a masters degree in science education. Here is a photo of an arrowhead I found out in the desert.

Tell me about your interests. What do you like to do in your free time? I like to do yoga and go backpacking. My cousins and I are doing a hike that goes all the way up from the Mexico border to the Canadian border. We do different parts of it on the weekends and during the summer. We carry all our food, water, tents, sleeping bags and everything else we need on our backs!

What are your favorite snack foods? I love peanut butter M&M's and PopTarts; cherry, strawberry, and maple brown sugar (although I don't really eat them anymore!). For a healthy snack I like lots of different kinds of fruit. Especially nectarines and mangoes. *
What is your favorite school subject? My favorite is science, of course! *
What is your LEAST favorite school subject? My least favorite was drama class. I'm pretty shy, especially on a stage! *
Where do you prefer to sit in the classroom? Do you have anyone you would like to sit near? I'll do my best to try to arrange something for you.
