Harbor House provides a safe place for opportunities, resources, and relationships to be shared so families in Oakland can flourish. Since 1972, Harbor House has faithfully served thousands of families through high-quality programs that nurture the heart, soul, mind, and body. The Harbor House Youth Leadership Program (YLP) will develop and encourage high school students in Oakland to be agents of positive change in their community. Participants will have opportunities to discover and practice their inherent gifts and talents, develop safe and caring relationships with peers, adults, and mentor students in our K-5 after-school program. Interns will receive the encouragement, tools, leadership training, and key resources they need to finish high school and beyond.

•    Interns will be paired will a small group of elementary students to mentor and assist with homework, enrichment activities, snack time, and free play activities.  

•    Interns will attend regular leadership development training sessions to develop their skills in classroom management, curriculum, program planning, conflict resolution, and personal development in the Seven Habits of High Effective People curriculum.

•    Interns will have regular check-ins with Harbor House staff to get performance feedback as well as engage about education, family, friends, and just life together.

12/14: Tuesday: 3:45pm - 6:30pm
12/15: Wednesday: 3:45pm - 6:30pm
12/16: Thursday: 3:45pm - 6:30pm

WORK SCHEDULE:
January 3, 2022 through May 19, 2022

|Monday's 3:45pm - 6:30pm and Wednesday's 1:45pm - 5:30pm |  OR  | Tuesday's & Thursday's @ 3:45pm - 6:30pm |

All interns who complete an entire term, attending two days per week with no more than two absences, will receive a $500 stipend from Harbor House.  Payout will be as follows:

1/20/22 - $125 | 2/20/22 $125 | 3/20/22 $125 | 4/20/22 $125 |

Harbor House interns are expected to attend the internship every day that it is in session. In the event that an intern cannot be present for work on a given day, the intern is expected to notify Harbor House staff at least 24 hours before the start of the next program day. Absences will reduce your stipend.
