In keeping with our responsibility for the health and safety of youth in our care, Anna’s Place NOLA has the following transportation policy and rules, to be followed by all those riding to and from school, performances, fieldtrips, or for other program activities:

1. The driver and Anna’s Place NOLA staff members are in charge of the vehicle and all its passengers, who are to follow the instructions and directions of the driver and Anna’s Place NOLA staff.

2. All Anna’s Place NOLA rules and regulations apply while in the vehicle.

3. Youth will be courteous to fellow students, Anna’s Place NOLA staff, and the driver.

4. FOR PICKUP: Youth will be at their designated pickup stops ON TIME! FOR NON-SCHOOL PICKUP: Parents/Guardians are responsible for arriving at the pickup stop on time and remaining with their children until the vehicle arrives. Youth arriving late for pickup will miss the pickup – we will not wait.

5. FOR DROP-OFF: An adult must be present to receive youth when dropped off. Parents/Guardians arriving late to meet their child will be charged a $5 late fee for the first three late arrivals and will lose van privileges on the fourth late arrival.

6. Parents/Guardians are responsible for any damage done to the vehicle by their children.

7. Youth are to be dropped-off at their designated stops only. For alternate stops, communication from the parent/guardian must be given to Anna’s Place at least a day in advance by calling or texting (504) 507-0146.

8. If a child will be absent or not require transportation, the parent must call or text Anna’s Place staff at (504) 507-0146 at least 2 hours prior to regular pickup/drop-off time.

9. As the vehicle approaches a stop, youth are to stand and wait at a safe distance for the vehicle to stop completely and for the door to be opened before approaching the vehicle.

10. Youth leaving the vehicle must cross in front of the vehicle at the directions of the vehicle driver.

11. Youth will not transport any article that cannot be held in the lap, or that the driver determines to be unsafe.

12. The following are prohibited on the vehicle:
• Swearing or obscene gestures
• Fighting (verbal or physical)
• Striking the vehicle driver
• Opening the emergency door (except in true emergency)
• Throwing objects
• Lighting matches or using lighters on the vehicle
• Smoking or using alcohol or drugs on the vehicle
• Not sitting in assigned seat
• Possessing a weapon (knife, club, firearms, etc.)
• Standing while the vehicle is in motion
• Not wearing seat belts at all times
• Interfering with another passenger while passing to or from a seat
• Playing musical instruments on the vehicle
• Glass containers
• Eating and drinking (unless specifically approved by the driver or Anna’s Place NOLA staff)
• Animals
• Use of cell phones or electronics (iPods, Game Boys, Nintendo DS, etc.)
Disciplinary Procedures:

-No more than three transportation violations will be allowed (depending on severity).

-After the third violation, the youth will no longer be allowed to ride the vehicle.
