Absence Request Online 2023-24
Attention Navarre High School Band Department members,

Please be advised that attendance is crucial to maintain the quality of our performing group and can also affect your grade. Therefore, we require you to complete this form for any excused absence or tardiness, except in cases of sickness or death in the family. Please give us advanced notice, at least four weeks for Marching Band and eight weeks for Concert Band, for any other absences to be considered for approval.

In case of unpredictable situations like sudden illness or car trouble, please contact Mr. Barrow immediately. You may call or text at 850.687.1998. Please note that calling a section leader, other student or staff will not suffice. You need to contact Mr. Barrow directly.

For future excused absences, complete the form below. Please provide enough information to help the Director assess your request adequately. We do not accept submissions by email or text. Furthermore, we strongly advise students to follow up with the Director within three (3) days of submitting this form.

“I have a family thing” is not enough information. We have families, too, and we all have “family things,” so we know things can spring up! If it is an emergency, we will be glad to help. We are generally very judicious (stingy!) about allowing students to miss rehearsals or performances – for any reason. Because Band is a performance-oriented class, it is virtually impossible to “make up” a missed performance. If a student’s absence is given “excused” status, they will be required to complete an alternate assignment to make up the missed time. It is the responsibility of the absent performer to contact the band director for that assignment.
