The project entitled “Theatrical Partnership as Enablers of Social and Behavioral Skills for Romani Youth and Travelers” (2021-2-CZ01-KA220-YOU-000050612) aims to give youth Roma artists and travelers the opportunity to be in the forefront of the performances and to gain the ground in labor integration through the creative sector, by promoting their positive narrative through their stories and roles.
The project’s specific objectives concern:
• The promotion of youth Romani artists’ and
travelers’ active participation in the creative sector.
• The opportunity for youth Romani people to be
integrated into the labor market of the creative sector.
• The training of youth Romani artists and
travelers on how to implement in a right way performances.
• The awareness raising and fight against discrimination
of Roma people and especially of youth Romani artists and travelers.
The project partners, coming from 7 European countries (Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Austria, Portugal, Netherlands, Spain, and Greece), have drafted the ‘OUR STAGE Script’, a common play, separated into 3 acts,
which promotes the positive narrative of the history, behaviors, culture, customs, and behaviors of Romani people.
Now it’s time for the ‘C Activities’ of the project, which concern the organization and conduction of the performances and trainings, which will be held in three of the project partners’ countries.
These activities will consist of the designing and determination of how the three acts will get on stage; costumes, props, rehearsals, lights, and sound checks will be designed and checked, through the cooperation and feedback exchange.
To that end, each project partner is to find 4 people, from the creative sector, to participate in this ‘one-of-a-kind’ creative experience and collaborate with Roma and non-Roma artists across Europe for the development of the performances.
