The childhood homophobia and its consequences on depression and self- esteem

You are being invited to participate in a research project being conducted by Mehmet Can Abay under the supervision of Piotr Kałowski, Ph.D. at the University of Economics and Humanities in Warsaw (Poland). Participation in this study is entirely voluntary, and you may refuse to participate or decide to stop your participation at any time. Should you refuse to participate in the study, withdraw your consent, and/or stop participation in the study, your decision will involve no penalty or other consequences.

The childhood homophobia and its consequences on depression and self- esteem 

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
 

The aim of this research is to investigate experiencing the childhood homophobia and its consequences on depression and self- esteem.

PROCEDURES
 

You will be asked about the demographic informations, your childhood homophobic experiences, tendency to feel depressed and the level of self-esteem.

REQUIREMENTS
 

Participants must be between 18 and 40 years of age.

EXPECTED DURATION 


The total anticipated time commitment will be approximately 5-10 minutes. 

RISKS OF PARTICIPATION

There are no anticipated risks associated with participation in this project. Should you decide you are uncomfortable with answering the questions during the study, you can stop your participation at any time. Participants can simply close the browser window that the study is in to end study participation. 

BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATION 

You will not receive any direct benefit from your participation. Your participation will help the develop the knowledge in the area of how homophobia may have impact in the persons future life.

CONFIDENTIALITY OF RECORDS
 

Every effort will be made to maintain the confidentiality of your study records. The data collected from the study will be used for educational and publication purposes only (master thesis). Participation in the study is completely anonymous.

FINANCIAL COMPENSATION


There is no financial compensation to be offered for participation in the study.
