Overview
The UCLA Anderson Board Fellows program is a joint effort between the UCLA Anderson Net Impact chapter and Impact@Anderson. The program places MBA students on various boards of directors of local partner nonprofit organizations as non-voting members for one calendar year, from January to December. The purpose of the program is to provide top MBA talent from all backgrounds the opportunity to work with experienced business leaders and learn about nonprofit board governance.

2020-2021 will be the second year of the Board Fellows program at Anderson. We are excited to continue offering this fantastic opportunity to MBA students and incredibly grateful to have your organization interested in partnering with program!
Commitment
In addition to attending board meetings, the Fellows will attend related committee meetings and special events, as you organization sees fit. Beyond meeting and event attendance, the Fellows are committed to taking on all responsibilities described in the sections below, with an estimated total time commitment of 6-10 hours per month. Please note that some Fellows may be away at internships during the summer months. Furthermore, Fellows will participate in “Brown-bag Lunch & Learn” sessions over the course of the year facilitated by Net Impact. These training sessions will explore topics such as best practices of board governance, fundraising, and adding value, and will feature guest speakers and faculty with varying levels of experience on boards.

In order for the program to prove a success for all stakeholders, we ask that your organization also commit to the organization responsibilities on the next page. This includes a 1-2 hour per month commitment from a mentor/point-person, outside of board meetings, to help orient the Fellows to the working of the board, establish norms for participation, and act as a resource for questions and insight about the organization and board governance in general.
