Thank you for taking the time to fill out the form on behalf of this applicant. Your letter of reference is the second part to their application for our Bio Boot Camps program. Bio Boot Camps is a program run by the University of California, Davis Bohart Museum of Entomology, Museum of Wildlife and Fish Biology, and the Campus Recreation Youth Programs. Our camps are necessarily small (10-12 campers) and specialized. Unfortunately every year we have wait lists. Our camp for students entering grades 7, 8 and 9 is all day long (8:30 am - 5:30 pm) with an overnight to the coast at Bodega Bay from Thursday morning to Friday afternoon. Our camp for students entering grades 10, 11 and 12 is entirely overnight both in the Sierra and in the Valley. All campers will be eating, cleaning-up and doing projects together.
We will not share your letter of reference with the applicant, though you may opt to share it yourself. The student is responsible for completing and submitting part of the application by themselves. The purpose of this letter of reference is to determine how this applicant works with others and what does this student need to thrive in a group setting.
You need to be a non-family member who knows this person ideally in a group setting. You could be a former or current teacher, youth group leader, religious leader, coach, employer or other adult mentor.
This is a required component of the application. Without the letter of reference the application will be incomplete and thus not considered.
This part of the application is due before 11:00 pm on Friday, March 10, 2023.If you have questions, please direct them to Tabatha Yang at
tabyang@ucdavis.edu and use "Bio Boot Camp References" in the subject line.
