2022 Tax Return Appointments
Thank you for choosing VITA at UCLA to file your taxes for 2022! VITA at UCLA offers free tax return preparation for qualifying taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns, including:
* Persons with low-to-moderate income (generally making $60,000 or less);
* Persons with disabilities;
* Persons of 60 years of age or older;
* Persons who are active duty or retired military personnel;
* Foreign and non-resident students; and
* Limited English-speaking taxpayers

Our on-campus tax site location is the Ackerman Union Viewpoint Conference Room A201A (308 Westwood Plaza, Los Angeles, CA 90024).

VITA at UCLA does NOT file returns with any of the following conditions:
* Married filing separately filing status (unless you hold an F or J visa)
* State returns other than California (however we can still file federal returns for out-of-state clients)
* Itemized deductions (unless you hold an F or J visa)
* Resident aliens claiming a tax treaty
* Business use of home
* Net operating losses
* 1098-T with Box 4 and/or Box 6 filled in
* Trades with virtual currency not through a broker
If any of the above conditions apply to your 2022 tax return, then your return is OUT OF SCOPE for VITA at UCLA. Please note that this is not a comprehensive list of all client conditions for which we are unable to lend our services.

If you are a FOREIGN NON-RESIDENT or NON-RESIDENT ALIEN, we are unable to file tax returns UNLESS you have access to GLACIER tax preparation services (through UCLA or other employer).
If you are a foreign non-resident with access to GLACIER, please fill out your GLACIER forms prior to tax site. This would include a completed Form 1040.
If you do not have your GLACIER forms fully filled out, we are unable to file your tax return for you until you have obtained your GLACIER forms.

For each tax return, we will prepare, review, print, and walk through the entire form with you to ensure accuracy and satisfaction before filing. Depending on how complicated your taxes are and how busy the tax site is, the entire process may take anywhere from 45 minutes to a couple of hours to complete.

ITEMS TO BRING:
Required for all:
* Government-Issued Photo ID: Driver’s license, passport, etc. (original ID required)
* Social Security cards for you, your spouse and any dependents you are claiming on your return. (Photo copies or electronic images of social security cards are acceptable.)
* OR an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) assignment letter may be substituted for you, your spouse, and your dependents if you do not have a Social Security number.
* Bank routing and account numbers if you would like to receive a direct deposit (a blank check is acceptable).

If applicable to your situation:
* Wage and earning statements (Form W-2, W-2G, 1099-R, 1099-MISC) from all employers.
* Interest and dividend statements from banks or brokerages (Forms 1099).
* All Forms 1095, Health Insurance Statements OR Health Insurance Exemption Certificate, if received.
* Form 1098-T for educational expenses (MyUCLA -> Finances and Jobs -> 1098-T).
* Invoices indicating total amount paid for daycare provider and the daycare provider’s EIN or SSN.

Recommended:
* Copies of income transcripts from IRS and state.
* A copy of last year’s federal and state returns.

NOTES FOR CERTAIN SITUATIONS:
* To file taxes electronically on a Married-Filing-Jointly (MFJ) tax return, both spouses must be present to sign the required forms.
* If you are a foreign non-resident, we are unable to file tax returns unless you have access to GLACIER tax preparation services (through UCLA or other employer). Please see 3. below.
* If you are a foreign non-resident with access to GLACIER, please fill out your GLACIER forms prior to tax site. If you do not have your GLACIER forms fully filled out, we are unable to file for you.

PARKING:
UCLA Parking Pay Stations offer short-term on-campus parking options in lots and structures located throughout campus. Rates range from $3 for 1 hour to $15 all day (potentially effective 1/1/23).
