In this week's Gospel, we hear Mark's account of Jesus' Transfiguration. This is truly a visual manifestation of God's glory! Jesus is accompanied by Peter, James and John on a high mountain top. While they are there, Jesus becomes a figure in "dazzling white" clothing and there was a blinding light around Him. As he stood there, both Moses and Elijah appeared standing there with Him. The vision of Moses and Elijah standing with Jesus is critical because of the important roles that they played in history. Moses represents the Law that guides the Jewish people and Elijah is remembered as one of the most important prophets of Israel who helped the Israelites stay faithful to Yahweh. Many believed that his return would signal the coming of a Savior for the Jewish people.
What changed about Jesus' appearance? (His face changed and his clothes became "dazzling white") *

How do you think Peter, James and John felt when they saw what was going on? *
How did God appear  (in a cloud) and what did he say to Peter, James, and John? (This is my beloved Son.  Listen to him) *
How would you have felt if you were Peter, James or John? *
