consider nominating yourself to join the Australian Citizen Science Association (ACSA) Management Committee! Joining the Management Committee is a great opportunity to offer your expertise in shaping the future of ACSA and the citizen science community. It also provides unique networking and learning opportunities about citizen science and ACSA.
Management Committee positions are
voluntary and are 2-year terms from November 2022 to November 2024. You can choose to self-nominate for one of five positions that are open in this year’s election:
- The Vice Chair
- The Treasurer
- The Secretary
- Two General Members
Each position has a unique set of responsibilities, which you can find full descriptions of in the
Terms of Reference for the ACSA Management Committee, Staff, and Appointed Supporters. We are seeking Management Committee members who collectively bring a diverse range of strategic and practical skills and expertise that can support growth of ACSA as a vibrant, sustainable and dynamic organisation. Prior experience in scientific disciplines, citizen science, or serving on national committees are a plus, but not essential.
Before you can nominate for the Management Committee, you must be
a member of ACSA.
In relation to the particular roles, the ideal candidate would have the following:
Vice Chair:- Well-developed leadership and advocacy skills
- Experience with strategic planning
- Ability to solicit financial support
- Capacity to grow networks and partnerships
Secretary:- Well-developed scheduling skills
- Efficient at documenting organisational activities (e.g. minute-taking)
- Capacity to systematically organise ACSA records
- Ability to manage external inquiries
Treasurer: - Strong financial and contract management skills
- Working knowledge of financial management tools, such as Xero
- Familiarity with financial requirements for small business or non-government organisations (NGOs)
General Members:- Skills to develop communication content (e.g. social media, website, etc)
- Enthusiasm for supporting ongoing team activities
- Eagerness to take on activities as needs arise
- Ability to be responsive and provide feedback in a timely manner
Please understand that in nominating you are prepared to commit time to the activities of the Management Committee, including at least one Management Committee meeting per month, associated follow up activities, and potential contribution to the work of sub-committees.
Key 2022 Management Committee Election Dates- Nominations open Tuesday 18th October
- Nominations close Monday 7th November
- Voting open Wednesday 9th November
- Voting closes Friday 18th November
- Successful candidates will be announced during our online ACSA Annual General Meeting (AGM) on November 21st that begins at 12:00pm-12:45pm (AEDT)/ 11:00am-12:45pm (AEST), 9:00am-9:45am (AWST).
