Esports Start-up Mini Grant
Great Lakes Bay Regional Alliance (GLBRA) STEM Initiative

The GLBRA is a partner with the Michigan High School Esports Federation (MiHSEF) in a venture called the Michigan Scholastic Esports Collaborative  (MiSEC)

MiSEC is an affiliate of the North American Scholastic Esports Federation (NASEF)

Start-up mini-grants are open to schools in Arenac, Bay, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Isabella, Midland, and Saginaw counties who are implementing a new Esports team.
Award Maximum: $750
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until funds are no longer available

In order to be eligible for Esports Team Start-up funding teams must assure the following:

The new team will register and participate in the next Michigan High School Esports Federation (MiHSEF) (https://mihsef.org/) season for at least one game title
The coach will register with the North American Esports Federation (NASEF) (https://www.nasef.org/) to gain access to free resources for student well-being, career exploration, beyond the game challenges, soft skill development, mentoring of coaches and more. There is no requirement to participate in NASEF competitions.
The coach will share at least one NASEF resource with the students on the team. (Ex. – Play Well, Be Well overview with students, a presentation on careers in esports, team participation in a Minecraft or other “Beyond the Game” challenge, etc.)
Any equipment purchased with mini-grant funding shall remain the property of the school district.
