We can only issue permits for classes that have a CRJU or POSC prefix. If you would like a permit for another class, you will need to contact that department.
Permits are only issued for truly extenuating circumstances and demonstrated need; they are not granted simply because of a desire for a better schedule or because students forgot to register in a timely fashion. The preferred method of enrolling in a course is to use the normal enrollment processes, including making use of the waitlist functions.
We are seeing a surge in permit requests due to prerequisite issues. The university is using new software for prerequisites, and it is causing issues. Please understand that this problem is outside of our control. While we can issue permits to specific sections of a course to override this prerequisite issue, you are going to see this prerequisite issue come up for every section and class that has that same prerequisite until we get that problem solved for you. Please be patient as we work with the registrar's office to solve these issues for you permanently, instead of just for one course one time. We recommend that you sign up for alternative classes if you can because your desired sections may fill up in between when you file your request and when the registrar fixes the problem.
Please remember: degrees have GE requirements, major requirements, AND total unit requirements (120). Almost all of our majors find that they will need extra units outside of the major and GE to reach 120 total units.
