The Banana Festival is on Sunday, October 20 from 10AM-2PM. Cook-off participants need to arrive with their dish, along with typed and printed recipe, and (an optional) photograph, starting at 10am for pupu (please see schedule below for specific times for each category). 

The Fine Print
All cooks, professional and home, are welcome to bring their favorite creations to the Great Banana Cook-off. There is no fee for entries. You may enter as many times as you wish in each of the four categories. A separate entry form is required for each dish you enter, along with a typed recipe attached to the dish. Be prepared to display your dish at its best, and keep cold dishes cold and hot dishes hot until they are received (see schedule below for timed entry). If you'd like, take a photo of your completed dish (before plating into 8 tasting portions), send to bfestcookoff@slowfoodoahu.com with your name and the recipe title. Slow Food Oahu will use photos of the winning dishes on both social media and its website. Slow Food Oahu will enjoy the rights to use any materials (photos, recipes, etc.) obtained during the Cook-off to further promote the culinary use of bananas.

Plating Details
Dishes must have a typed and printed recipe that serves 8. Take a photo (optional) of your entry before you separate into eight, 4-ounce serving portions for judging. Use containers that will best display your tasty entry. NOTE: Dishes, decorations, utensils, etc. will NOT be returned to you.

Delivery Time For Dishes
Bring your cold/hot dish to the Windward Community College  receiving area at Hale Akoakoa at these specific times:
  • Pupus 10-10:30am
  • Flower 10:30-11:00am
  • Savory 11-11:30am
  • Dessert 11:30am-Noon
Your dishes must be received during these times, no early or late entries will be accepted.
Winners
There will be prizes awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each of the four categories. Winners will be announced on/or before 1:30PM. Best of luck—get cooking!

Along with the prizes, winners will also receive a certificate commemorating their victory.
