The Christa McAuliffe Charter School will be conducting a lottery on Tuesday, August 20 to fill a small number of sixth-grade seats open for the 2019-20 school year.
The lottery will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, during which the school anticipates accepting two incoming sixth graders. An ordered waitlist will be built after the initial slots are filled. The lottery will be held at the school (139 Newbury Street, Framingham) and will be conducted by a neutral party.
The school’s enrollment policy outlines a lottery and admissions process that follows the state charter school laws and regulations that call for a blind lottery:
- The first preference goes to students who are residents of Ashland, Framingham, Holliston, Hopkinton, Marlborough, Natick, Southborough, and Sudbury. Students who live in these towns/cities will be selected through the random electronic lottery tool.
- Students who live outside of the eight-town region may also apply to the lottery; the school draws from the non-regional pool after all regional student names have been drawn.
- A waitlist will be established for applicants who are not selected from the lottery.
Students selected in the lottery and those accepted off of the waitlist have ten business days to submit forms to enroll in the charter school. As spots open up, the school will invite students off of the ordered waitlist. The waitlist will be maintained during the course of the 2019-20 school year and students may be invited off of the waitlist through February 15, 2020.
