University of Washington Pursuit of Excellence Scholarship

The Pursuit of Excellence Scholarship is awarded by Sigma Nu Fraternity to a high school graduating male who will be attending The University of Washington in the Fall of 2024. Applicants should foremost consider themselves qualified in terms of academic excellence and community involvement. 

To specifically qualify for consideration, the applicant must have an overall high school cumulative GPA of 3.25 and plan to attend the University of Washington - Seattle in the Fall of 2024.

An ideal candidate for the scholarship is an individual who is actively involved in one or several competencies of being a successful undergraduate student and exemplifies the values of Sigma Nu, including scholastic achievements, leadership development, friendship and camaraderie, and service to the local community. 

Up to $1,500 in Scholarship Funds will be awarded, with funds being distributed on June 15th, July 15th, and August 15th; be sure to apply early to maximize your opportunities to receive an award! Applications close on Friday, August 9th.

Applicants should complete the following form for consideration. There is no obligation to join or express interest in the fraternity to be eligible to apply or to win the scholarship.

The mission of Sigma Nu is to develop ethical leaders inspired by the principles of Love, Honor, and Truth. In the spirit of our mission, choose one of the following prompts below to expand upon: 

- Love: Who inspires you and why? How have the ideals of this person shaped your life? 

- Honor: The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?

- Truth: Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others.


An ideal response will be between 250 and 500 words, with specific examples and details as it pertains to the value and the congruence of your actions and experiences to that value.
